My art originates in ideas and feelings that reverberate through me. When I walk into the studio with the morning cup of coffee I look at the world around me; the pieces I was working on the previous day, the newspaper articles lying on the floor, and through the window at the rising sun. Earlier thoughts reappear, new begin to emerge, news from the world obliges and nature compels me to create. My process is derived from looking at the world, thinking about the world, and creating art out of my responses.
For me, art is the touching of an idea through images. It is an intuitive process where I transform what I feel into what can be seen. Through visceral reactions my expressions slowly take shape. Art is exactly this – a translation of reactions to both the world at large and to personal feelings into physicality on the canvas surface and in the next transparent veils of color. It is a constant path I travel to discover the marvelous nature of painting out of my experience.
